Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Volkswagen Group.
Product Manager
I've interviewed with Volkswagen multiple times over the past year. I had two phone interviews and one in-person. I'm sharing this from the viewpoint of someone applying through a staffing agency. Most recently, the hiring manager asked me to do a 3-day assignment as part of the second interview stage. I finished it completely, and then they never got back to me. From what I understand, a lot of people get hired there after working as contractors first. There's nothing wrong with that. But asking candidates to work for free with no feedback is really telling about their company culture.
- Could you describe your experience?
Product Manager
VW has a very professional and interesting interview process. The questions were easy, especially if you've done your research and are passionate about the automotive industry.
- Can you talk about your understanding of quality?
- What are your career goals?
- Please describe your academic background.
Product Manager
First an HR call, straightforward. Then a call with some team members for motivation and more questions. After that, a case study to prepare at home and later present in a call with Agile Coach and a developer (that was OK-average). Then an online test with arithmetic, logic, and personality questions. The test isn't difficult on its own but is time-limited, and you don't quite understand the UI of the website (e.g., whether the remaining time is for the questions overall or just for this question). You should read and answer in less than 30s and prepare very well in time. After that, I don't know anymore.
- Classic logic questions from books.
- Given arithmetic questions with an example and a table of different business departments (e.g., costs, revenue, time...), which department had lower costs in the first trimester?
