Had a phone chat/questionnaire with strategic questions, then an interview with HR, followed by an interview with the area manager, and then got hired. Throughout the whole process, the candidate is treated very well. Information is passed very clearly and there's always feedback.

The interview was very professional and pleasant. The interviewers were well-prepared, asked targeted questions, and gave detailed insights into the company and future tasks. I especially liked the open and friendly atmosphere. My questions were answered thoroughly, and I felt that both my qualifications and my personality were valued. Overall, a very appreciative conversation that gave me a positive impression of the company.

The interview was at the Voith factory in Croydon in October 2023 on a Friday morning. When I arrived, nobody was at reception and even after pressing the call button several times, I wasn't let in and waited outside for about 30 minutes. Eventually, an employee spotted me and let me in, then took me to a meeting room for the interview. It wasn't a STAR interview; they mostly asked about my experience with procuring castings and machined components.

In addition to myself, 5 other people were present for the interview for training purposes. The atmosphere was good despite this. Everyone introduced themselves briefly. Then, I was asked what I knew about the company. After that, the company and the department were presented in detail. The HR manager was interested in getting to know me. However, it felt like they were intensely searching for weaknesses, especially from the department manager. A lot was discussed about my studies: What did I particularly enjoy and what came easily to me?; What was particularly difficult for me and how did I deal with it? It was hard to steer the conversation towards things that would have highlighted my qualifications, like study projects and previous employers. I was unfortunately not sufficiently prepared and it was my first job interview. With good preparation, it would probably have gone better. I learned a lot during the interview and also had a positive impression of the department and the company.

Confirmed questions4 questions
  • Regarding your studies, what did you like best, what was most difficult for you, and how did you manage that?
  • What is your definition of quality?
  • The last question before we concluded was: How would you describe yourself in three words?
