This role is actually more of a Field Operations Manager than a Project Manager. The initial phone call was quite engaging and perhaps a bit misleading. When you arrive at the office, you're seated at a table with about 10 other candidates for a group introduction. They give you more info and talk up the company, then you're expected to leave and send an email explaining why you're a good fit.

The interview process started with a group interview including the CEO and managers, where they discussed company culture and positions. Everyone introduced themselves and their work history. I thought this was a good start for a relaxed conversation. After that, I had a joint interview with two departments to discuss my background and the company to see if it was a mutual fit. Then, I was given a few days to write a 'why' letter explaining my suitability for the role and company. The next step was another interview with two mentors to delve deeper into the position and assess fit. The entire process spanned about three weeks, and I received an offer, but I declined it as it wasn't the right fit at this moment. Certain aspects could have made me accept it, though. The people there are great, and the energy is high. Logan was a great guy, down-to-earth, and focused on ensuring it was a career move. This isn't a place for people who want to slack off. Compensation is performance-based, reflecting your effort and ownership. The training period involves a significant pay cut, which was a factor in my decision.

The first interview was a phone call where they mostly pitched the company, which felt a bit odd since usually you do your research before talking to them. They asked some questions about my resume and to get a sense of who I am. The second interview was a group Zoom "career day." It was pretty clear they wanted to see how we'd fit in with others in similar roles. It lasted an hour, and involved an elevator pitch at the start and a chance to ask questions at the end. They gave a good overview of the role and made it clear it's not for someone looking for an easy ride. The third was a standard in-person interview where they asked about my experience and how it applies to the job. I didn't get a second in-person interview, which I assume would have been the final one. I wish the process was faster, it took about 4 weeks total, but they were pretty honest throughout, especially if you take things with a bit of skepticism.
