Technical Coding System Design

A recruiter contacted me. The first interview was a one-hour session focused entirely on JavaScript. The second round lasted two hours. I expected front-end questions for the final rounds, but I was asked to design class structures and write a function for a specific use case, covering both algorithms and system design. It seems they were looking for someone with strong backend knowledge, which wasn't clear initially and differs from my front-end focused resume. When I presented my system design solution, the interviewer noted it was very much in the React and JavaScript realm, which is expected since I'm a front-end developer.

Coding Technical

The interview process started with a phone interview, followed by an online coding interview. The final round was at their headquarters. While the people were nice, the process felt a bit disorganized. Spending 9 hours at HQ (8:00 am to 5:30 pm) plus travel was exhausting. There was a lot of cheating in the final round because the day was split into two halves with lunch in between, leading many candidates to share questions. I felt I performed well because I hadn't seen the questions, but it was hard to compete against those who had them beforehand. I wish it had been a fair competition.
