Vista Graphic Designer Interview Questions
& Process

I got an email first, then I had a phone interview with a hiring agent. After that, I had another phone interview with someone from the design team I would be working with. Then, I went in for an in-person interview at the company. The in-person interview was actually over 2 hours long because I met with 4 people, each for about a half hour. It really didn't feel that long though, because it was such a pleasant experience. It was more like a conversation with fellow designers rather than an intense interview. They all looked over my print portfolio, and also asked and answered questions. They also had notes from looking at my website before the interview. I left feeling like I truly enjoyed my experience and the conversations. They were all really nice and friendly. Later that day, I got an email saying they forgot to tell me the next step. They said they were all impressed with my work and that the next step was to do a mock project that was due within a week. I sent the project to them by the deadline, and got a confirmation email saying they received it and that I would hear back. I never heard back from anyone. Not even a courtesy email saying they decided to go with someone else. I get that they're a big company, but to go through such an extensive interview process and be led on, only to hear absolutely nothing felt really disrespectful and rude.

I went in for an interview because I missed the job fair, but the managers still made time for me. I had an hour-long assessment, and then the operations manager interviewed me.

The initial two interview stages were quite organized, with prompt feedback and pleasant interactions. However, a significant communication breakdown followed the second round, with four weeks of silence despite my follow-up emails. Eventually, I was informed about a third round, but without any details on what to expect. This lack of information persisted even after I inquired multiple times about the process and the role. The third interview itself, which occurred after a two-month wait, felt confrontational and interrogative, with my questions left unanswered and no clarity on the subsequent steps or the position. Overall, it was an extended and quite disappointing experience.
