The interview process had 2 rounds: first an aptitude test which was of average difficulty. The second round was a technical round. The technical rounds were a bit difficult; you need to be very informative in the first round. The second round will be conducted by a director, and you need to be conceptually strong with what you say, as they will delve deep into your explanations.

I was selected for a Research Associate (Finance) interview even though my qualifications weren't quite there yet. I figured they liked my resume and my interview performance would seal the deal. First up was an easy online aptitude test in early November. I waited for the second round call, but my friends who did worse got one. Then, in early December, I got selected again for the same process, same test, same job. I took the online test again, and it was identical. This time, I got the call for the second round. I traveled to another city for it. The interview panel had two people, Guy and Gal. Guy seemed to be in charge, and Gal kept checking with him. They started with basic questions like 'tell us about yourself' and then jumped into technical questions. I answered them all accurately and in detail. Gal was nice, but Guy was rude and seemed irritated. They kept asking, and I kept answering perfectly. Finally, Guy asked about a stock's BETA, and I explained it as best I could. He seemed satisfied because he found his reason to reject me. I was told to wait outside, and an HR person told me I wasn't selected. This was for an entry-level role, and I felt I was overqualified. I think Guy was biased from the start. They said I have to wait 6 months to reapply, but I don't want to go back to Visible Alpha. Their process feels biased, random, and luck-based. Who knows their criteria if they rejected me for one out-of-syllabus question?

Technical Case Coding

I made it to the second round of the interview process. My profile was shortlisted after I successfully passed the online test. Then, I was asked to attend a technical round where the focus was primarily on my skills. The entire process consists of three rounds in total: the first is an online test covering accounts and finance, a case study, and ratios; the second is a technical round involving practical scenarios, accounting entries, and the ratios part of valuation.

Confirmed questions5 questions
  • Could you walk me through a case study?
  • What are your thoughts on ratios?
  • Can you explain accounting entries?
