Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Virtusa.
Consultant
I applied for a role some time ago and didn't hear back, but they reached out about a different position that seemed to fit my skills. The process involved a lot of waiting and rescheduling; the interview was postponed four times. When it finally happened, the panel seemed uninterested and concluded the call early. They joined late as well. This experience was quite disappointing, especially considering I've interviewed many times before. I'm hoping for another chance to connect, but I'm not feeling very positive about it.
- Can you discuss your past project experiences?
- Could you walk me through some scenarios you've encountered?
Consultant
The interview process was good and well organized. It was a one day process. The first round was technical, covering Core Java and Spring, then JPA, some DS, and finally an HR round which went well. The panel was professional and good, consisting of two people.
- Tell me about Core Java.
- Discuss your knowledge of OOPS principles.
- Explain your experience with Spring.
Lead Consultant
So, I interviewed at Virtusa for a Lead Consultant role, which is basically a Full Stack Developer job. They were looking for people good with Angular, Node.js, and JavaScript. The whole thing started with submitting my application online, then HR gave me a call. They checked my background and if my skills in Angular, Node.js, and JavaScript matched what they needed. Then there were a couple of technical rounds. The first one was all about core tech skills like JavaScript basics (async, closures, scope), Node.js stuff (APIs, REST, async ops), and Angular details (component lifecycle, data binding, RxJS, DI). The second technical round was more hands-on, where I had to code. I built an Angular component for live data streams and a Node.js API endpoint. After that, there was a system design round. They gave me a scenario to build a scalable full stack solution, talking about database, tech stack choices, code structure, security, performance, and CI/CD. Lastly, I had an HR chat to see how I'd fit culturally, asking about my career goals and teamwork.
- Can you tell me about your past projects, particularly instances where you took the lead in development or worked within cross-functional teams?
- Could you elaborate on JavaScript fundamentals such as asynchronous behavior, closures, and scoping?
- What is your level of expertise in Node.js for backend development, covering aspects like API design, REST principles, and managing asynchronous operations?
