Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Virtu Financial.
Operations Analyst
The interview process had a few stages. First, an online coding test that was similar to LeetCode problems. Then, a meeting with HR. After that, there were several interviews with different team members, about 5 or 6 in total. These interviews were pretty much the same. They talked about what the company does, asked about market making, and threw in some logic brainteasers. They were upfront about the long working hours, but overall, I got a good vibe from the company. Since many interviews were alike, it's smart to pay close attention to what they say early on about market making and their business model so you can answer questions later.
- Can you code the Fibonacci sequence?
- Tell me about market making.
- Solve this logic puzzle.
Operations Analyst
The interview process started with a CV screening, followed by a coding test on Codility, and then several phone interviews. The coding test had short problems, and you could practice similar ones on the site. The phone interviews included some standard brain teasers. Overall, it was a negative experience due to poor communication. I was left waiting for two weeks without notice because someone was on leave, and I received no feedback after completing multiple interview rounds, which felt unacceptable.
- The coding test required manipulating arrays and other data types using simple for loops.
Operations Analyst
The interview process was good, and it involved an exam to assess your abilities. I didn't think the SQL part of the exam was needed for an operations analyst role, but they expect everyone at the firm to know these things.
- Tell me about your experience with Python.
