Viridien Scientist Interview Questions
& Process

The video interview process was pretty simple and straightforward. There were several questions, and I had to record a 1-minute video for each. It would've been better if they gave more time for questions about my research interests and projects.

I had two main parts to the interview process: first, an online video interview, and then an assessment centre. The video interview was pre-recorded; questions would pop up on a screen, and I had about 30-60 seconds to prep before it started recording for a maximum of 2 minutes per answer. The questions covered a mix of maths, specific technical knowledge, and personal motivations. The assessment centre day involved a 5-minute presentation to introduce myself to the recruitment team and the other candidates. There was also an intro talk from the recruiter about the company. We then did a first group exercise that was about creative thinking for a simple task. Lunch was provided afterwards, where I could chat with current graduate employees and other candidates. We also had another group exercise that was a logic puzzle. Finally, there was a tour and a technical interview where we discussed my motivations, my understanding of their BroadSeis technology, and looked at a seismic section.

It was a really fast interview process. I got an email to set up the interview. It was online and I had to record my answers. There were about 26 questions in total. It started with some standard HR stuff, then moved on to some math questions, and finally tested my knowledge in geophysics.
