Tech Talent Program
The interview process was well structured and transparent, consisting of five main stages: 1) An initial interview with the recruiter. 2) Completion of an OPQ (personality) assessment. 3) A follow-up interview with the recruiter and hiring manager, including a discussion of the OPQ results and a few technical questions. 4) An IQ assessment. 5) Two technical presentations to the team: one about a recent project I had worked on, and another on a selected technical topic. Throughout the process, the recruiter provided clear guidance at each stage and offered valuable feedback, which made the experience professional and constructive.

Seismic Imaging Analyst
So the interview was about 2.5 hours. First, I had to do a 10 min presentation about some research or coursework I did. They told me to pick something I know well and tell a story with it, showing how I approached it and what I found out. Then there was an hour for follow-up questions on my presentation. The next hour, they gave me a seismic reflection image and I had to figure out some numbers from it.
- Could you calculate the water bed's height using the provided seismic reflection image?
- What is the distance from the sound boom source, based on the seismic reflection image?
- How long is the sensor chain on the water's surface, according to the seismic reflection image?
Imaging Geophysicist
So there were 3 online rounds. First up, I chatted with the deputy manager and we worked through some fundamental math and physics stuff like integrals, trig, matrices, and waves. Then, round two was with the business operations manager, and I had to tackle a geophysics problem. The final round was with the imaging manager and the team lead, where we dove into reflection and geophysics problems. Just a heads-up, even if you nail the questions, it's not a guarantee you'll get the job.

Seismic Analyst
I applied for the Graduate Seismic Analyst position and heard back in January with a link for a one-way video interview. It had 3 high school math questions and some brain teasers, which was easy coming from an engineering background. After that, I had a second interview with managers where I had to give a 10-minute presentation on my background. They seemed really interested in my thesis and master's research, asking a lot of questions. Then they shared their screen and asked some math and physics questions. After that, I had an in-person interview at their Calgary office and they offered to pay for my travel, which I didn't need since I live there. The third round involved more questions about my resume and research, plus two physics questions related to their work. I took my time but answered them. I found out the next week I didn't get the job. The communication was fast and everyone was nice and professional. I think I did well, but they might have wanted someone with a geophysics background.
