So first, there was a pre-interview call with the hiring manager. Then, I had to do a writing test, which was basically summarizing a paper into a single PowerPoint slide. The next interview involved creating and presenting a presentation about a project from my previous or current job. This was done in a group interview setting. They were trying to gauge the type of content I could produce, which is tricky because most of what we do in med comms is confidential. I asked about the specific role they were hiring for, and they mentioned a test period before assigning a position. This made me wonder about the offer letters – like, how would they detail the position and salary if it wasn't finalized yet? I didn't really get a clear answer on that.

I spoke with the internal recruiter first, they were super helpful and knew a lot. Then I got a proofing test and some info about Virgo Health. I liked how upfront they were about everything, like salary and benefits, which they just gave me right away. The interviews themselves were really constructive. I had 3 interviews over Teams with pairs of team members. They wanted to see if I'd be a good fit for the role and the company culture. Everyone was really friendly and helped me understand the job from their point of view.

I had a first chat with the hiring manager over the phone, about 20 mins, covering my background and interest in the role. She was super helpful and supportive. A few days later, I got a writing assignment to complete within an hour. Then, I had two interviews. The first was with two senior people, a relaxed 20-minute chat about my work experience, workload management, and prioritization skills. The second interview was with two team members I'd be working with, focusing more formally on my experience and its relevance to the role, asking about what I learned and gained. Feedback was quick, and the whole thing took about two weeks.

The interview process gave me a really good feel for Virgo. The Talent Acquisition Manager took the anxiety out of the interview process and gave feedback really quickly. The interview was a mixture of more formal and relaxed chats with a mixture of colleagues, which allowed me to meet the team and get to know them and the company in the early stages.
