First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Administrative Assistant
The hiring manager emailed me after I applied to set up an in-person interview and gave me a few dates and times to choose from. The interview itself was short and easy. They got back to me with a job offer within a few days.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- In three words, how would your friends describe you?
- Do you have experience working with databases?
Office Administrator
I got a phone interview call within 2 weeks of applying. A few days after that, they sent me an itinerary for a full 8-hour on-site interview and trial. During the on-site, I had a few one-on-one interviews and two group interviews. One group interview was with the work-study students I'd be supervising, and the other was with the career counselors. They told me I was one of three finalists and when to expect a call. I got the call a week or two later, but missed it. I called back within 5 minutes, but nobody answered or called me back.
- Which utensil would you be if you could choose?
Administrative Assistant
It was pretty easy, just be ready to talk about your past experiences. Also, wear something professional and communicate well. This shows you're keen to listen and learn.
- Can you share an example of a challenging situation you've faced before?
