First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Virgin Media.
Field Sales Representative
I wouldn't bother applying to Virgin Media. Their recruitment team and process are a mess, mainly because of how the teams present themselves. During the interviews, be prepared to be cut off mid-answer. They're very unprofessional and it's a waste of time. They ask the same questions repeatedly, and even when you answer them the same way you think is best, they still interrupt you.

Sales Representative
It started with a phone call, and the person was nice and direct, and I passed that stage. Then came the in-person interview. The interviewer wasn't very friendly and seemed annoyed. The questions were pretty basic, like asking why I thought I was a good fit. The last part involved a demanding task where the hiring manager wanted me to sell holiday packages. I had about 15 minutes to gather information and figure out how to approach people to sell these packages. There were four different packages. I didn't have enough time to get all the details, so I did my best with what I had, which wasn't ideal. Virgin Media has very high standards for their interviews.
- Can you pitch me these 4 holiday packages, each with about 4-6 pieces of information?
Sales Representative
I applied online and after about a week, I had a brief phone call. This then led to a face-to-face interview the following week. It was quite relaxed and focused on my drive for money, sales skills, and how I handle rejection. They wanted to see if I was the kind of person who could do this job, which involves long hours and selling no matter what. I realized pretty quickly it wasn't for me. A few days later, I got an email saying they weren't moving forward with my application and they offered feedback if I wanted it.
- Imagine you're only at 50% of your monthly sales target with just 3 days to go, and you need to reach 80% to earn commission. What actions would you take?
