Started with an application form, then a recorded video interview. Then got a surprise phone call followed by an email confirming I got to the assessment day. The early stages were fast. The assessment day was more formal than I expected. Had to give a 10-minute presentation, followed by questions on it and a technical topic. There was a 40-minute interview asking about past experiences and how I handle situations. Two group activities. They do give feedback. I thought the presentation needed ideas, not theory, but that wasn't quite right.

Submitted an online application, then was invited to a video interview where I had to answer three questions. The first question was easy to get used to the process, then there were two questions about VM's future challenges and my passion for technology. I could record my answers as many times as I wanted, so it wasn't too stressful. After that, I was invited to an assessment centre in Birmingham. The day had a pretty standard and intense format: two interviews. One interview started with a 10-minute presentation I had prepared and was quite technical. The other interview had more standard competency-based questions. We also had two group tasks where we had about half an hour to evaluate a case study and reach a group conclusion, and then present our conclusions to the panel. Some of the questions and group activities were challenging, but all the staff were very supportive and friendly, and the atmosphere was good throughout the day.

It was a full-day thing, near the airport. There were two group tasks and two individual ones. One individual task was a 40-minute grilling about what kind of person you are, the interviewers weren't the most engaging. The other individual task was a 10-minute presentation you had to prepare, the people running that part were great and easy to talk to, which helped me relax. The group tasks were pretty standard, with 5 of us in the group and 5 assessors watching, which felt a bit intense.
