Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Virgin Media.
Technology Intern
The interview process was quite long, lasting a couple of hours, and took 2 to 3 days for a response. It consisted of a recorded interview, an assessment centre involving data analysis, a presentation, and teamwork, followed by a final interview. The assessment centre involved a large document with loads of facts and figures. We had to individually understand the information and create a recommendation of which option would be best for the environment.
- Can you share something new you've discovered during your own research, on any topic?
Placement Student
First, there was a CV submission and an application form where you had to answer a few questions about yourself and why you want to work for Virgin Media. I'd really suggest filling these out completely and showing your interest in Virgin and their future. After that, there were online tests with verbal, numerical, and diagrammatic sub-tests. They weren't too difficult, and then there was a work styles questionnaire. I got feedback on these, which was super helpful, but it only came after the video interview. The video interview was way shorter than I thought, only about 2.5 minutes of recorded time, so it's important to come across enthusiastic and clear in that short time. I didn't get past the video interview, but honestly, it was my favorite and the easiest application process I've been through.
- Can you sell yourself in 30 seconds?
Intern
So I did the online application, answered some questions, and sent in my C.V and cover letter. Then I had an online video interview where they asked me about my extracurriculars and an advertising campaign I admired. After that, I got a voicemail on Friday inviting me to an assessment centre and they said they'd call after the weekend. They never did, so I called them on Monday afternoon and they told me they gave priority to candidates they could reach first.
