We talked about my past experience as a teacher and then I did a demo. The interviewer gave me some tips to get better at teaching. That was it, and they let you know if you passed or not, sometimes via email.

I have over 25 years of teaching experience, with a Master's degree and TESL certification, focusing on the ELL population. I went through the interview process but ultimately wasn't offered the job. I tried to teach at a pace suitable for a typical teacher but couldn't complete the lesson because a child wasn't grasping the concepts. My philosophy is that you should not continue a lesson if a student is struggling, which is something VIP Kids doesn't seem to follow. My students have consistently achieved the highest scores on state exams over the past decade, with my ELL students often performing the best. I'm left wondering about the credentials of the young person who conducted my interview and who makes these hiring decisions.

I sent in my application online and then had a video/skype interview. They gave me a lesson to teach and I looked at some example lessons beforehand. I didn't have a headset at the time (which I now realize is super important) but I felt like I did okay in the interview. Sadly, I didn't get the job. I think you really have to be over the top when doing your online interview lesson to even be considered.

I had to schedule and prepare for an online demo within two days, as that was the only availability. It was early morning due to Beijing time. The interview itself was brief, focusing on my education and teaching background. The interviewer's speech was difficult to understand. Following that, I conducted a ten-minute teaching demonstration. Despite feeling prepared, I apparently didn't perform well and didn't get the job. I was told I'd hear back within 24 hours, but received an email in about an hour. It wasn't a terrible experience, just disappointing.
