Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Viking Cruises.
Sales Consultant
So, after a typing test, there was this panel interview with 3 leaders. They asked some basic questions, and then the big one: what's more important, rapport or product knowledge? The answer is rapport. It was a big interview, like 6 people total, and they hired 2 of us.
- Is rapport or product knowledge more important?
Sales Consultant
I applied online via the Viking Cruise website. The next day, I got an email with a link to a personality assessment (took about 15 mins) and some pre-qualifying questions (like availability for nights, weekends, holidays and verifying call center experience). I interviewed the next day and knew they wanted to hire me. I got my official offer letter 2 business days later.
- Can you role play a phone call using this formula for selling a trip?
- There was also a quiz to match cities to their country.
Sales Consultant
It was a really personal and thorough interview process. They were keen to know about my travel experiences and if I could describe places I've been to in a way that paints a picture for them. They also asked about my previous sales experience.
- Tell me about your travel experiences.
- Do you know if the time is regulated?
- Can you describe your sales background?
