First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Vets for Pets.
Veterinarian
The person I was supposed to have my interview with didn't show up, and I ended up waiting for over an hour past my scheduled time. After that, I was shown around the clinic and a vet explained what a typical day involves. However, I wasn't really interviewed. They also never followed up with me afterwards.
- Can you tell me about your experience performing routine surgeries?
Veterinary Receptionist
I applied on indeed late at night, and within 15 mins i got a message asking to attend an interview I got there 5 mins early and was waiting for ages in the waiting room and finally got called in. I was faced with a chair in the middle of the room, with 3 people facing me spaced out sat on chairs. It was completely off putting and quite intimidating to be honest. The questions were simple, they asked about my experience and then asked where do i see myself in 5 years. They essentially just wanted to know if I'd done the job before. They then spent 10 minutes emphasising how stressful, hard, and long the shifts were. I wasn't asked about myself, what I know about the company, or anything you usually get asked in an interview. Not even why I wanted to work there. They didn't care what I do in my spare time or my skills or anything actually about me. There was no conversation, just talking at me. I was then (rushed) showed around, and told that I'd be given a trial shift and they'd be in contact as soon as. I was messaged on indeed the next day with a generic automated response telling me I was unsuccessful. Not only was this essentially a huge waste of my time, it is just purely rude. To not receive any feedback after being told I would get a trial shift is unprofessional, and again just a waste of my time. All the staff seemed overworked, fed up and were just rude.
- What about your experience do you want to tell us?
- In five years, where do you envision yourself?
Pet Health Advisor
Got a call about a month after applying. They didn't ask much initially but went into detail about what the job entailed, as the description had changed a lot. Had an in-person interview the next day. It was pretty awkward, not just because the role had changed, but some comments were inappropriate. In both calls, I was asked about kids or other commitments that might stop me from doing the shift pattern. They asked a lot about my CV, more than usual, before looking at a set list of questions. Heard back a week later with a brief, unclear response.
- Tell me about a time you exceeded customer expectations by going above and beyond in your role.
Client Care Advisor
Applied for the role and got called for a casual chat about two days later. Then, I was invited for an interview the next week. They said I'd know within a week, and about two days after the interview, they called to invite me back for a trial shift. This happened the week after that, and two days post-trial shift, I got a job offer over the phone! So, it took about three weeks total from applying to getting the offer. Everyone I talked to was nice and answered my questions. It was a really simple process, and they kept me in the loop the whole time.
- If you had a client needing to pay, another checking in, and one on the phone, how would you decide which client task to handle first?
