First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Verve.
Data Engineer
The interview process was smooth and well-structured, with four rounds. It started with an HR screening to discuss my background, career goals, and interest in Verve. The HR rep was friendly, explained the role and company culture, and answered my questions. Next, I met with the VP for a technical-managerial round, focusing on my technical skills and how they match the team's objectives. The questions were insightful, emphasizing problem-solving and my approach to challenges. Then, a senior data engineer conducted a hands-on technical round with SQL, Python, and Big Data problem-solving. The interviewer was professional and encouraged me to explain my thought process. Finally, the hiring manager assessed both technical and behavioral aspects, looking at my team fit, project contribution, and alignment with Verve's vision.
- Can you talk about your background and career aspirations?
- What makes you interested in Verve?
- Describe your experience with previous projects.
Senior Data Engineer
I had a great interview experience for the Senior Data Engineer role. The recruiter clearly outlined the process, which included four rounds over three weeks. Round 1: Intro session with the recruiter to align expectations and explain the process. Round 2: 60-minute high-level technical discussion with the Hiring Manager. Round 3: 60-minute low-level technical discussion with a Senior SDE. Round 4: 60-minute comprehensive discussion (both high and low-level) with the Technical Manager. The process was well-structured and respectful of time, with clear and engaging discussions throughout.
- The interview focused on the architecture of data elements.
Data Engineer
The whole interview thing took like a month, and there were four chats. First, HR talked to me about the company, how they hire, and my situation. Then, I met the Hiring Manager to get a feel for the team's goals and impact, how they're set up, how they plan work, and what they're currently focused on. Next up was a Senior Data Engineer for a technical chat, where I shared my tech skills, past work, and we talked about the data warehouse setup and potential issues (wish it was longer than 30 mins!). Finally, I had a good conversation with the Strategic Projects Manager, who's basically the CEO's direct report and manages the team. This chat was great for understanding company values, the team's purpose, the company's history, and its future challenges and direction.
- Tell me about your current situation.
- What's your past experience?
- Behavioral questions about job responsibilities.
