First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Verkada.
Technical Support Engineer
It was a 4 round interview process. Started with a recruiter screening. The last interview was a panel interview with 3 people. The first person asked a technical support scenario question about a customer experiencing a break-in. The second person conducted a behavioral interview asking me to talk about a difficult experience. The third person asked a technical interview question about a project.

The hiring process at Verkada was quite lengthy, but they intentionally structure it to ensure they bring in top talent and find candidates who genuinely fit the company culture. The interview journey consisted of four main parts: an initial recruiter chat and basic screening online, followed by a technical interview online, then a manager interview also online. The final stage involved three back-to-back in-person interviews at their onsite location. The Verkada recruiting staff were incredibly helpful throughout the entire process, providing very clear guidance on what to expect. They even gave advance notice about the types of questions that would be asked in each interview, allowing candidates to prepare thoroughly. From the first contact with a recruiter to accepting the job offer, the whole experience spanned about a month.
- Can you describe a technical project you were involved in, detailing any challenges encountered and your approach to resolving them?
Technical Support Engineer
The interview process was really different from what the recruiter said. The first two rounds were technical and on Zoom, and the last one was on-site at Verkada HQ. I was supposed to meet 3 people on-site, but one was missing and a random person took their place. This person asked random questions like 'What's your favorite song?' and 'Which video games do you play?'. During the on-site and lunch, they acted like they were definitely hiring me, with lots of fake promises. A week later, I heard I had a 'great presence' but 'fell short on a few technical topics'. The first Zoom call was supposed to be an hour but only lasted 15-20 mins of interviewing, then they just chatted for 20 mins. The second interview was supposed to be behavioral and about troubleshooting, but it was all technical questions, not behavioral or troubleshooting related. The on-site had 3 parts. The first went great, they said I was 'fantastic'. The second had tough technical questions, not about troubleshooting, and the interviewer was confusing. Lunch was a sales pitch about the company, and they tried to get me to accept their offer even though I might have other options. The person who supposedly rejected me was at lunch, hyping up the job offer. This whole thing took over a month and involved traveling across the country, so it felt like a waste of time.
- What is your favorite song?
- What is your favorite band?
- Do you play video games?
