Applied online and got an intro call with a recruiter, then interviews with the hiring manager and another sales leader, all pretty fast. Then I had to prep a presentation about my top channel partner target in the region, scheduled for over a week out. But less than 24 hours before, the recruiter called to say they went with an internal person and canceled my presentation. Felt really unprofessional after all the prep work, wish they told me sooner.

Behavioral Presentation

So Verkada's interview process was pretty straightforward and moved along nicely. First, I chatted with a recruiter, then had a 1v1 with the hiring manager. After that, I talked to another manager from a different area for another viewpoint. Then came a panel interview where I had to give a presentation. Once I cleared that, they did a background check and references. The last step was an in-person meeting with the hiring manager.

Behavioral Technical

Started with a high-energy recruiter call where expectations were clearly set. Then had a great initial chat with the hiring manager. Was invited to an on-site with leaders. The recruiter did a good job setting expectations and coaching again, and even mentioned they were considering internal candidates. Then, one of the four interviewers, a young director, threw out totally irrelevant questions about my personal integrity, career path, sales skills, and experience level, which was weird given my 20+ years compared to their 3. This director was a clown and used confusing internal jargon. The whole culture felt toxic from the start. During the on-site, another employee made a joke about my suit, saying it looked like I was going to a funeral and that the style was from the '80s. It felt unprofessional. The recruiter promised quick feedback after the interviews, but after following up three times over 10 days, none of my emails were even opened, and there was no communication for weeks. It seemed like a waste of time, possibly just to meet EEO requirements by interviewing outside candidates.
