First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Verizon.
Sales Representative
The interview was nice; they asked good questions and were looking for creative thinking and personality. I felt like we had a real conversation instead of just answering questions. Going in confident, knowing my resume, and having a few sales experiences I could talk about really helped, even though I didn't have much sales experience back then. I used the experience I had, along with an example of helping someone reach a goal. The chat lasted about 30-40 minutes.
- Tell me about an impactful accomplishment you are most proud of.
Sales Representative
First, a recruiter call then you will interview with a store manager. This is the person who makes the hiring decision so make sure you sell yourself. It's a basic STARS interview, basically asking you about a time you did something. If you have wireless experience and a history of fraud activations, you'll get hired. This is an entry-level job, so don't expect a 100k salary. Management will try to sell you on commission, but it has a cap. Expect to make around 50k a year, or 65k if you're a top seller.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to resolve an issue and what the final result was?
Sales Representative
Had some really intense pre-screening interviews first. Then, after hours, they wanted to chat at 7:30pm, and it was basically me trying to convince them I was the best fit. Even though I had all the qualifications, they ended up going with someone else and said they'd keep me in mind, but that never happened. If you're interviewing and they ask more than 5 'tell me about a time' questions, they likely already have someone picked.
- Can you describe your daily tasks in a comparable position at a competitor?
- Walk me through your day-to-day activities in a similar role you held at a competitor.
