Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Verizon.
Retail Sales Associate
So the interview kicked off with a rundown of what the job involves. Then I got asked a couple of questions: 'When was a time you went above and beyond for someone?' and 'Do you think you could do the job?' The interviewer was really nice and easy to talk to.
- Can you tell me about a time you went above and beyond for someone?
- Do you believe you are capable of performing this job?
Retail Sales Associate
The interview process was pretty straightforward to get into. The entire interview itself was simple, with no difficult questions. When we finished, the manager said I did great and that I'd hear back the following Monday or Tuesday for a final phone interview before an offer. I waited and waited but heard nothing. By Friday, I emailed the recruiter and still heard nothing back. Two weeks after the interview, they closed my application without ever responding to my many emails or the promised phone call.
- Describe how you would handle a situational roleplay that changes depending on the day.
Sales Associate
I interviewed for a sales role at Verizon and it was a bad experience. First, the application was normal, but the first call felt impersonal and rushed. Then, the first in-person meeting was just a general company overview and the interviewer didn't care about my experience. They used some old assessment tools that didn't really test sales skills, and didn't explain the results. The panel interview felt like an interrogation with repeated questions and no rapport. The sales pitch part was confusing with no clear rules. The final talk with an exec was also rushed and unclear about pay. After all that, I got no feedback even though I followed up, and the offer decision was super late. I didn't get an offer in the end, which was also poorly communicated.
- Describe a sales strategy you've used that beat targets, and how you adapted it to your market.
- How would you present Verizon's products and services to a customer?
- How do you keep up with changes and new products in the telecom industry?
