Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Verizon.
Accounts Manager
After applying, there was a recruiter call, then a phone screen, followed by a phone interview. After that, an in-person interview and a test. Then I got an offer. After being hired, there were several months of new hire training. I did some shadowing with my team and had a buddy system, then started working with the team. The training was really important and lasted a good while, which I appreciated.
- Tell me why you think you're a good fit for this role.
- Would you be interested in a more senior role?
Manager
There were two interviews for this role, one with my supervisor and another with a manager. After that, there was a really long period of no response, which wasn't great for the candidate experience. It took weeks to hear back, and I didn't even make it to the final interview. The main issue wasn't not getting the job, but the complete radio silence for about two months, even after I emailed the hiring manager several times.
- Can you tell me about your previous experience?
People Manager
I applied via a recruiter and the whole process took over two months. I had to follow up a few times before getting any response. The HR and TA team represent the organization, showing its culture to candidates. For a large company like Verizon, the HR and TA team could really improve their communication and follow-through. I was expecting a higher level of professionalism.
- Tell me about a time you managed people, explaining your thought process.
