Behavioral Technical Case

The whole thing took about two weeks and had three parts. First was a quick 15-20 minute phone chat with the team leader to see if we clicked and what I wanted. Then, I went to their office for a more involved interview where they showed me a bunch of data and charts and asked me to share my thoughts. I also had to mess around with some campaign data in Excel. The last step was a full hour chat with the director.

It’s a long process, lots of repetition, but overall OKish. Several Meetings: 1. HR screening 2. Senior CSM 3. Manager CSM 4. Director CSM 5. VP CSM 6. SVP Ops Overall was ok, but one was a bad experience. The person didn’t even opened their camera (kind of rude) but not only that. It was clear that the person was doing something else, sometimes would be some weird delays (no it was not taking notes). Another awkward moment, in one of the meetings, the person asked me if I was the “guy” referred by “X person”. Straightaway you can infer that someone is already ahead in this “competition” Response time was not ok as well. It took more than 2 weeks to send an email advising that they selected other person to do an offer. HR if you read this, don’t keep holding a “NO”, just send an email and happy days.

First, a quick 15-minute screen call with an outsourced recruiter. Then, a 45-minute behavioral call with an engineer manager. After that, a take-home tech assessment where I had to build a full-stack app based on mock-ups and acceptance criteria. This was followed by a 1-hour session to review the code, including some live coding. Then, a 1-hour architecture design discussion. Finally, a 30-minute call to discuss company details and culture, which ended with a verbal offer.

Got a call from a recruiter first. Then, about two days later, I had a video chat with one of their lead designers. They were pretty upfront about how stressful the job is. A week after that, I went in for an in-person interview. This involved a whiteboard session where I had to draw out wireframes. It seemed like everyone there was on board with the decision. I answered all their questions, and sometimes I had to ask them for clarification on what they meant. They seem to prioritize UI skills over UX. It also seems like they aren't keen on doing user interviews as part of their UX documentation process.

  • How do you cope with stress?
  • Can you share an example of a project that you felt was unsuccessful?
  • What do you do to de-stress?
