It was a very professional and personal interview process. The team demonstrated great leadership and seemed to really enjoy their work. Even though most employees were remote, they did a solid job of maintaining the company culture virtually.

I went through the interview process for the Fullstack Engineer role. It included a technical interview, and the interviewers were really great, making it a good experience. But, after the interview, I tried to follow up about my application status, and the person who set up the interview hasn't replied to my messages. So, I'm not sure where I stand. I liked the interview itself, but it's been a letdown not hearing back about my application. I hope they get better at following up with candidates.

I was one of two women (that I knew of) interviewing as internal hires. We both had very bad experiences with this interviewer and took our names out of the running because we felt unwelcomed. He pushed me for several minutes to "admit" that I wouldn't have time for this job, even though I was continuously insisting that I would. He also tried to push me to "admit" that I would struggle due to my lack of experience, despite it being an entry-level position, and he did this after he had just bragged about their amazing training videos. There were several times when the interviewer would ask me a question, then as I began to answer it he would interrupt me and act like that's not the question he just asked. There was something else that occurred along these same lines but this was almost a year ago so the memories are a little fuzzy, but there was more. In the end, I concluded that he either struggled with interviews, or there was a reason me and the other woman who interviewed had the same experience. I know that this is not the attitude of the whole company, this was the only time at Verisys that I ever felt my gender affected my position.

I was brought in for an interview via a consulting agency. Verisys is new to Agile and wanted to train someone with limited project management experience. Most interviewees hadn't worked in Agile, but I was asked about my knowledge of Agile, particularly Scrum. This included the roles within Scrum, managing meetings like Stand-Up, Sprint Planning, and Sprint Retrospective, and the common artifacts and information radiators such as Burndown charts and Sprint Backlogs. I was also quizzed on timeframes for Scrum events, like Sprint duration and the length of planning, retrospective, and demo meetings. Finally, I was presented with hypothetical scenarios, such as how to handle a team member who disagrees with the rest of the team, and asked for my proposed solutions.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • The hypothetical questions took me a while to think through.
  • Each interviewee was only given 2 days to study up on Agile and Scrum methodologies as well as becoming familiar with the company and preparing for the interview questions
