First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Verily.
UX Researcher
It was unbelievable. They made me go through 9 interviews spread across 5 different days, only to reject me with a simple 'sorry, no' and no feedback. I had to prepare two presentations. The process started with a recruiter call on day 1, then a team member interview on day 2. Day 3 was a full day with 4 interviews. On day 4, I interviewed with another team member and the hiring manager. Day 5 involved one final team member interview. After waiting several weeks, I had to ask for an update and was told 'sorry, no'. Scheduling was a mess, with multiple reschedules needed. It felt like my time was disrespected.
- What is your approach to analyzing qualitative data?
UX Researcher
The interview journey started with a recruiter screen, followed by a chat with the hiring manager. The final stage was an entire day of back-to-back video calls with the whole team, which included a portfolio review. Unfortunately, one of these calls was abruptly canceled and had to be rescheduled for the next day. While the interview process itself seemed pretty standard, although a bit disorganized, the main issue was being ghosted. It's been 4 months, and I still haven't heard anything back, not even a rejection, even after following up. It feels unprofessional to not get a final decision after investing so much time and effort.
- Can you explain the difference between mean and median?
UX Researcher
It was a multi-stage process with about 4 or 5 sessions in total. They asked some really specific questions about my communication skills, when I've had an impact, how I think outside the box, and we also dug into the pros and cons of different research methods.
- Regarding method X, what would you say are its advantages and disadvantages?
