First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Vera Bradley.
Sales Associate
The interview process felt laid-back but still professional. It happened in the back of the store with the manager. They want you to talk about your past jobs, when you can work, and why you're interested in Vera Bradley. Make sure you know their core values and can explain which one you connect with most. Expect a good number of open-ended questions about your work history. I got the job offer by email the next day.
- Could you describe a situation from a previous job where you handled a difficult customer or coworker?
- Share an instance where you devised an innovative solution to a challenging problem.
Sales Associate
I applied online and then got a call about 4 days later to come in for an in person interview. When I got to the store, the manager and assistant manager met me. The manager interviewed me in the back, asking about my experience, why I was interested in retail or VB, and about my school. It felt more like a casual chat because the manager was really friendly and seemed to love her job and the company. The weird part was after the main interview; they told me to go out on the sales floor, pick something, and then sell it to the assistant manager. I get why they do it, but it was kind of awkward trying to sell something to someone who knows way more than I do. Right after that, they offered me the job, and I took it.
- What makes you want to work for Vera Bradley specifically, compared to other stores?
- Can you share a story about a tough customer situation and how you turned it into a good experience?
Sales Associate
The interview was pretty straightforward. Since I had three years of prior retail experience, I felt they were already set on hiring me before the interview even started. The interviewer asked me some questions and took notes on my answers. She spent a good portion of the time informing me about Vera Bradley's practices to ensure I could transition smoothly from my previous job. I had my interview on a Friday and received an offer the following Tuesday. The whole hiring process can take a bit of time (and they do require a drug test), so even if you get an offer right after the interview, it's wise to hold off on quitting your current job until all the administrative tasks are finalized and everything is confirmed.
- Can you share an instance of the best customer service you've experienced?
- Which of Vera's core values do you feel aligns most with your own?
- What is your motivation for seeking employment at Vera Bradley?
