First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Vendr.
Procurement Specialist
The interview process was very smooth and I got a lot of information from the recruiter. All the interviews were open and personable. The interviewers make you feel comfortable and it's more of a conversation than an interview.
- How did you find out about this opportunity?
- Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?
Procurement Specialist
I found the job posting on LinkedIn. The first interview was a phone screen with the recruiter, which went well. Next, I had a second interview with the supervisor, and that also went very well. The third interview was with someone who works closely with the procurement team, and I felt that went well too. Up until this point, communication was great – they were responsive and answered emails the same day. However, after the third interview, there was a two-day silence with no follow-up. I sent two emails asking about the next steps. Finally, I received a response that seemed like a generic, copied-and-pasted email stating they decided to move forward with other candidates whose experience was a closer match for the role. The weird part is, the stock email was for a completely different job than the one I applied for. I replied asking for clarification but never received an answer. The whole process felt disorganized and unprofessional, especially since they moved me through three rounds if my experience wasn't a good fit.
- What makes you interested in Vendr?
- Are you able to manage challenging conversations?
- How do you approach interacting with individuals with different personalities?
Buyer
The interview process started off pretty well. I had a friendly first chat where they asked about my background and if I was a good fit. They said there would be about 5 or 6 interviews in total, and the first few went great, even a negotiation role-play went well. But then, for interview #5, things took a turn. The interviewer was immediately unfriendly and seemed uninterested. He acted like my background wasn't right, even though I have 4 years of sales experience and nobody else mentioned this. He made comments like 'everyone knows [my old company] is easy to sell for' and asked why I didn't go for a CSM role instead. He also admitted he was testing my reaction to pushback, which is fine, but it would be good to get a heads-up about these 'tests,' especially if the interviewer is going to be so abrupt. It felt like either the hiring team wasn't clear on the experience needed, or this interviewer was just having a bad day or had already chosen someone else and didn't care about treating me respectfully. I'm fine with not being the right fit or missing the opportunity, but candidates shouldn't be made to feel bad just for exploring the company. It's frustrating to go through a long process only to be treated poorly at the end.
- What makes you interested in Vendr?
- What's your motivation for transitioning into a buyer role?
- Could you explain why you didn't pursue a role as a CSM, given that seems like a more fitting position?
