Started with an HR screening where we talked about my experience, salary expectations, and when I'm available. Then there was a technical round covering PHP, WordPress, MySQL, and frontend basics. The final round involved talking with the manager or team lead about my skills and if I'd be a good fit. Lastly, HR handled the offer, including salary negotiation and releasing the offer.

The interview was good, professional, and very clear about the job and what's expected. This was for a content writing role, and the questions would be about the tools, writing styles, and how it's conveyed to someone else.

The interview process kicked off with a Google Meets session involving three interviewers. It started with standard questions like 'what are your strengths and weaknesses' and 'describe a situation when...'. Following the interview, I was sent three simulated 'emails' to respond to. Although the interview itself was pretty standard, my impression from the questions asked, the questions I asked, and the assignment I received was that the role, despite being called 'Marketing Specialist,' had no actual marketing responsibilities. It felt more like a call centre representative position, where the tasks involved calling and emailing clients to follow up on approvals or request information to be passed on to the actual marketing team. Early in the interview, some answers were met with positive feedback like 'that's a good answer.' At the end, I was informed there would be two more interviews and I'd hear back within the week about a second interview. However, shortly after completing the assignment, I got a reply within an hour from a fourth person (who wasn't part of the initial interview) stating they wouldn't be proceeding with my application. I suppose they could tell I wasn't impressed. In summary, it was a standard interview, but the role was greatly misrepresented for a position titled 'Marketing Specialist' and advertised as mid-senior level. Given my 12+ years of experience as an administrator, the role as presented during the interview seemed more entry-level and wouldn't require marketing expertise. If this assessment is incorrect, perhaps the interview practices need re-evaluation.

Coding Technical Behavioral

The whole thing took about 3 weeks. It started with an online coding test that had 2 questions. Then I had a 90 minute interview with a senior dev and a manager. The last part was an HR chat. The coding questions were pretty simple, I got through them all. The live coding in the second round was also easy. They said I did well after the first two rounds but then rejected me after the HR one, saying they found someone better. This was super disappointing. Like, if my coding wasn't good enough, they could've just rejected me after the second technical round, but how did they judge my tech skills after the HR round?

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Questions about basic string manipulation
