Vedanta Limited came for campus placement for the Graduate Engineer Trainee position. To be eligible, you need a CPI of 6.0 or more, 60% or more in 10th and 12th, and can have at most a one-year gap between 12th and graduation. No diploma entry is allowed. The process has three steps. First, an Aptitude Test on the Wheebox platform for 1 hour, with 30 aptitude/reasoning questions and 20 technical (branch-related) questions. Each is 1 mark, and there's no negative marking. Second, a Group Discussion Round where groups of 7-8 students are formed with 2-3 panelists. It's 10 minutes total, with 2 minutes to think and 8 for discussion on topics like "Is failure necessary for Success". 5 out of 8 students are selected. Third, the Personal Interview Round, the last step. 2-3 panelists ask for an introduction, family background, and favourite subject. Then, technical questions about your interests, projects, and internships. Be ready to discuss your resume in detail. This interview lasts about 30 minutes.

Graduate Engineer Trainee
The Sesa Iron ore goa team came to our college for recruitment. First, there was a Pre-Placement talk in the morning, followed by a Written test. Only Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, and Instrumentation departments were eligible. The written test had about 35 aptitude questions, which were quite easy for most students. They shortlisted around 20 students from over 100 who appeared. Next was a Group Discussion with straightforward topics. Finally, 10 students were called for a combined Technical and HR Interview. About 7 students were finally selected. Six joined, and two have already left within 4 months, based on what I know.
- Can you explain how a Thermal Power Plant works?
- You seem knowledgeable about Thermal Power Plants, where did you learn about them?
- Would you be willing to work for Vedanta?
Graduate Engineer Trainee
There were three rounds after passing a strict application criteria. First was a quantitative aptitude test, which was an elimination round. After that, we had a group discussion, followed by a personal interview. The HR and panel were very energetic, and they discussed personal and technical topics. Finally, they asked questions about my resume, ensuring they covered all aspects of my personality.
- Could you start by telling me about yourself?
- Now, some technical questions concerning electrical machines.
- We'll also cover technical aspects of power systems.
