First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Vectorform.
Director of Talent Management
I had an initial chat with the Director of HR, then I met with the CEO, Jason Vazzano. After that, I got to connect with the entire HR team and several leaders from the company. I really appreciated having the chance to talk to so many people throughout the interview process.
- Tell me about your leadership style.
- Describe your approach to managing challenging employee issues.
- How do you envision contributing to the company's scaling efforts?
Software Engineer
I was contacted by an internal recruiter, then had a phone interview. After that, I was asked to develop a demo project, which in my case was an mvc task list. The demo project is, after all, a time-consuming task, and I usually won't do it unless I really like the company. Finally, I was invited for an onsite interview, and I was given a tour of the company. The recruiter constantly reassured me that the interview went very well. One week after, I got a short email saying again that everything went very well and they were just interviewing other candidates. Then they went silent. Given the time-consuming interview process, I think that's unprofessional.
- Regarding dependency injection, have you had prior experience working with it?
- For the demo project, which is a task list application, could you please develop it based on these technical requirements?
- Users should be able to enter a new, active task.
Project Manager
Had an initial chat with HR and then was invited for an "onsite" interview and tour. The onsite was tough but overall a positive experience. I first met with the Executive Director for about 15 minutes, and then another PM and an engineering lead joined. They asked some challenging and abstract questions, really trying to understand me and what I could contribute to their team.
- If you were given $1B and 10 years, how would you tackle Seattle's traffic issues?
- Can you identify the most significant technical advancement from the past year and explain your reasoning?
- At a family gathering or holiday dinner, which relative would you choose to spend the most time conversing with?
Business Development Director
It was a pretty intense interview process with meetings with top execs, a writing task, a personality test, and a critical thinking test. You really gotta be serious about this job and what the company does. I liked chatting with the leaders and learning about the company. HR was super helpful and quick to respond. I stopped the process 'cause I got another job offer.
- Tell me about a situation you faced that relates to your job responsibilities.
- Describe a past behavior that is relevant to your job responsibilities.
- What are your thoughts on the responsibilities of this role?
