First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Vecna Robotics.
Robotics Software Engineer
I had a C++ assessment first, which I passed. Then I had a phone interview. The interviewer was really rude and didn't seem interested. I didn't get to ask any questions about the job or company. When I asked if I could ask a few questions, he initially said yes, but then when I asked a detailed question, he hung up before I finished. I got a generic rejection email an hour later. It was the worst behavior I've ever seen in an interview. Please, hiring teams, don't waste candidates' time. Job searching is stressful enough, so at least avoid being rude.
- Tell me about your experience with ROS.
Robotics Software Engineer
I applied online and first had a 70 min assessment from a recruiter that tested my Java, JavaScript, and SQL skills via multiple choice questions. Next, I had a phone interview with a software engineer where they asked standard Java questions and some background questions. Unfortunately, I was rejected after this stage.
- Can you explain the difference between an interface and abstraction in Java?
- What are the different access specifiers in Java?
- Regarding Java interfaces, why are their methods exclusively public?
Robotics Software Engineer
The interview process heavily featured questions about the projects detailed in my resume. There were also some follow-up inquiries concerning the processing and interpretation of Lidar scan data, alongside questions about autonomous mobile robot motion planning, navigation, and localization.
- Can you explain how to interpret a 2D lidar scan?
