First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Vattenfall.
Software Engineer
The hiring process was nice and supportive, with a positive attitude from everyone. The HR person was nice. There was a teach round with the hiring manager and a developer, followed by an onsite interview. They provided travel reimbursement. The location and company culture were great. There were 3-4 rounds of interviews in total, with the last round being mainly with the manager. The salary offered is competitive.
- What are your thoughts on Angular?
- Can you explain state management?
- How do you approach optimization?
Project Developer
The interview went really well, I felt confident answering everything. I did my homework on competitors' projects, and the vibe was great. It was all positive until they heard my salary expectations, which were just a bit over the minimum, even with my 4 years of experience doing the exact same thing. The very next day, the hiring manager relisted the job on LinkedIn, but this time for a working student role. It really seemed like they just wanted someone cheaper! I got the bad news by phone the following week.
- In what ways would your colleagues characterize you?
- Could you share your salary expectations?
Software Developer
I applied first. Then they called me. They asked about my German skills. They asked how many years of experience I have. They asked where I live and if I have a work permit.
- What are your German language skills?
- How many years of experience do you have?
- Where do you live?
