Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Vattenfall.
Senior Analyst
The interview process was pretty professional and well-organized. It was divided into three main parts. The first interview focused on general questions, understanding my motivation, checking for behavioral fit, and assessing my expertise. The second interview involved a case study, followed by questions about my behavioral fit and knowledge. The third interview was supposed to be another session focusing on behavioral fit questions.
- Can you describe a situation where you effectively addressed and resolved a challenging issue?
Analyst
The interview process at Vattenfall in Amsterdam was decent, with three interviews in total. The last two were with the hiring manager. While the interaction with the hiring manager was not ideal for me, it's subjective as it was very direct, straightforward, and could feel cold or pressuring. They really want to see your eagerness to join, your full motivation without any doubts. Avoid trying to negotiate too much or asking too many questions if something is unclear or if things change, as this is not viewed favorably. In my case, this led to the cancellation of the offer even after we had verbally and via email agreed. The reason was that after confirming the offer, I received extra information and requested some details to understand its impact on my payroll. Unfortunately, this was perceived as being too focused on financial details, and the offer was withdrawn. Also, be very careful with your communication, as every line is sensitive. You might intend to ask for clarification, but it could be misinterpreted, and it's hard to backtrack once that happens. Despite this, the team itself seemed really nice, potential great colleagues! The company appears great, hope this helps you! Good luck ;)
- What is the most annoying thing for you when working on a project?
Junior Analyst
It was a pretty intense process for a junior role. Started with an online pre-call, then a first in-person round. After that, there was a Python test, also in person. Finally, there was a second round interview. The whole thing dragged on for months and involved teams from different countries.
- Prior experience in energy markets?
