Technical Presentation

This was an 8 round process that ultimately didn't result in an offer. I felt the recruiter was not upfront about the number of rounds or the time commitment. The interviewers themselves were great people with good questions, and I enjoyed meeting with actual stakeholders. The process involved a classic whiteboarding exercise, but the senior designer leading it seemed disengaged, making the exercise feel doomed from the start. It's a shame because I would have gladly helped fix this messy hiring process, but the lack of transparency and the poorly managed pipeline make me not want to apply again.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The process started with a recruiter call, which was fine. Then a different recruiter took over and was great with communication until a certain point. The interviews followed a typical pattern: meet the hiring manager, go through a portfolio review, and talk with several engineers. All along, the feedback was good and communication was steady. But the last interview, with the department head, was surprisingly unprofessional. The questions were impolite, and the feedback wasn't clear or direct. After that, I was told other candidates would also go through the process and another stage would be added. I was supposed to get an update on what's next. I waited almost a month with no word. Then I saw the job was posted again. This whole thing felt like ghosting and showed a lack of respect for candidates' time and professionalism.

Recruiter call, then a manager screen, followed by a portfolio presentation. Then there were 2 cross-functional behavioral interviews, a collaborative design exercise (checklist for a Vet office), a conversation with the Head of Design, and finally a conversation with the Chief Product Officer. Everyone was great, super friendly and smart, no "trick" questions. Just be prepared to tell a wide variety of stories from your experience that showcase your collaboration, values, and how you handle hard situations.
