Customer Success Manager
It was a straightforward CSM interview. They asked about my experience managing accounts, building relationships, and growing them. The interviewer shared their own experiences in the role. Key areas covered were how I've managed and grown accounts (renewals, upsells, retention), specific examples of building strong client relationships and handling tough situations, times I've salvaged a struggling account or influenced key people, and my methods for proactive engagement like health checks, QBRs, and adoption strategies.
- Could you elaborate on your background as a Customer Success Manager?
Customer Success Manager
The interview process was well-organized with clear milestones. The recruiter was great at communicating and offered helpful insights. I had interviews with the hiring manager, a department leader, and a collaborator, which all led up to a mock QBR presented to a panel. They provided good instructions but also gave me space to be creative and show off my skills related to the product and a given scenario. Everyone I met seemed prepared and interested in me, offering feedback right away.
- Can you share an experience where you had to handle a customer who wasn't responding?
- Describe a situation where you managed a customer who was difficult to get a hold of.
Customer Success Lead
The interview process included an initial recruiter call, then an interview with the hiring manager, followed by a planned 2-hour "loop" with three different people. I was upfront about my unavailability weeks in advance and tried my best to schedule things quickly. However, the scheduling got delayed, and the "Onsite" was pushed back two weeks beyond its original date, past my planned time off and the Thanksgiving holiday. On the Saturday before my "onsite" (after my time off and Thanksgiving), I got an email saying they had hired someone else and my interviews were off. I feel like I didn't get a fair shot because they delayed the interview timing and then cancelled the one that was already scheduled.
- Can you share an instance where you conducted an experiment and explain how and when you decided to discontinue it?
