First, I had an initial chat with the recruiter. Then, there was a team meeting-style interview with the hiring managers. They asked a lot of application-style questions and we went over my resume. They also asked about the company and why I want to work there. Overall, the interview wasn't as nerve-wracking as I thought it would be.

Before the phone interview, you must complete an extremely long assessment that about an hour or more. The assessment included questions about your financial knowledge, such as "What is the turnover rate of Michael?". There are about 4-5 sections of the assessments and each consists about 50-100 questions. Then there was a 30 minute phone interview, asked basic STAR questions. They started off with tell me a little bit about yourself and why you want to work for Vanguard.

Behavioral Presentation

I had a phone screening with a recruiter first, and then I came in for an in-person interview at the office. The in-person part included a 30-minute role-play exercise and 30 minutes of behavioral questions. Vanguard really likes it when you use the STAR method for your answers. The role-play was set up as a customer calling in, and I had to help them solve a problem. It was very customer service oriented. Don't stress about not having a finance background; just make sure you know some basics for the interview.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you evaluate your performance in the role-play?
