Research Assistant
The interview was on Zoom with two research team members. They asked about my background and goals. They mentioned needing to discuss opening a role with HR. I was then offered the job.
- What motivates your interest in research?
Research Assistant
Some labs use a recruiter to fill the role. The interview process differs by lab/PI. One lab required two interviews, several references, and a phone interview with my previous manager. Another lab had one interview with the PI, then an interview with lab members for a vibe check. A different lab focused on experience and my reasons for relocating to the city.
- Tell me about your experience.
- What are your reasons for wanting to relocate to this city?
Research Assistant
The interview process involved two rounds. The first round was with the Principal Investigator (PI) who discussed the role and the lab's research. The second interview took place in the lab with other lab members, including a lab tour. The lab members' opinions are usually decisive, as the PI tends to hire individuals they believe will succeed in their lab.
- Can you describe your previous research experience?
