I completed an application and then had an interview with HR. We asked each other questions, and it was a really nice conversation. I felt I might have been overqualified for what they needed, and I was a bit worried about not getting enough hours. Overall, it went well and they were very pleasant.

The interview process was fast and smooth. First there was a phone interview from one of the managers. During this I got to learn about nurse:patient ratios, number of beds on the unit, acuity of the patients, etc. At the end of the interview I was offered a face-to-face interview, with an option to do it on Skype (I lived about three hours away). I chose to drive to the hospital for the interview to get a better feel of the atmosphere and also places to live near the hospital. The assistant managers interviewed me and gave me a tour of the unit. They were very forthcoming and helpful, even talking about possible orientation dates.

So for leadership nursing roles, they have this new interview process that's kind of intense and weird. You meet with different groups of people over a few hours. There's upper administration, your peers, and management. They ask you scenario questions one after another, and you have to explain what you did and what happened. They write everything down and then grade it. It's like an event where multiple people show up, but each person gets interviewed by the group by themselves.
