First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Valuation Research.
Valuation Associate
Had 3 interviews, each about 30 minutes. First was with an external recruiter, then two with MDs. Everyone was really professional and kind! Two of the interviews were behavioral, and one was technical. They're looking for someone curious and eager to learn, someone passionate about the role.
- Could you define what a risk-free rate is?
Analyst
The interview process was pretty straightforward. It involved questions about how I'd fit into the team and company culture, along with some fairly easy technical questions. They also asked about why I'm interested in valuation as a career path. The people I met were really nice and friendly, and they were happy to answer any questions I had.
- Can you walk me through your resume?
Portfolio Valuation Analyst
Had a first phone call with a VP, it was pretty chill, he asked one technical question about revenues and net income. Then the next interview was with Two VPs. It was pretty hard, not gonna lie, lots of questions about DCF, WACC, discount rate, and valuations. It was like 85% technical.
- Can you explain a DCF?
- And what about $10 of depreciation?
Financial Analyst
The interview process isn't very structured. You first meet with 2-3 partners. If they like you, you then meet the CEO, who makes the final decision. However, sometimes the partners make the call. They tend to hire fresh graduates or individuals from bulge bracket firms. People from Big 4 are not as common here.
- Could you start by telling me about yourself?
