Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Valmet.
Senior Service Engineer
You can get an interview through referral or by applying directly, but the interview is really meant for picking the right candidate. It's possible for desired candidates to pass, but if there's a lot of demand and they don't find the right person, luck might play a role for others.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
Project Engineer
i applied and then got called for an interview. i speak english as my mother tongue but they asked me to speak finnish as much as i could, which i did, and i completed the entire interview in finnish. i thought it would leave a good impression but it turned out it didn't matter. i'm a dark-skinned man and maybe that played a role. a former school mate of mine, who is lighter-skinned, got the same job and he did his interview in english, so that explains it.
- Can you tell us about your previous school experience?
Project Engineer
There were three rounds in total in the hiring process. First was the Video interview, second the SHL test, and finally an Interview with the boss and HR. They might ask for references too.
