Registered Nurse
We'll start with a situation. Think of a time you had a situation that turned out well. What was your task in it? Be clear and concise about what you did. Then, what action did you take? This is your chance to shine and talk about your strengths. Finally, what was the result? How did you help make it happen? What did you learn?
- Can you share an example of a situation, being mindful of HIPAA and avoiding negative comments about patients or caregivers, where you demonstrated empathy?
- If you made a mistake, can you describe it and how you fixed it?
Registered Nurse
Got a call a few days after applying for an interview that same day or the next. Interviewed with the nurse in charge of the unit. She asked about 3 behavioral questions, gave a quick tour, and acted like I had the job. They said I'd hear back by the end of the week, but I never did. I called and left a message to follow up, but no one called back.
- Tell me about yourself.
Registered Nurse
You need to fill out an online application on MIHS.org and can track your status there. You'll get an automated confirmation, but no other feedback. Be sure to tailor your application to the specific job requirements, like mentioning years of telemetry experience in your responsibilities. Don't just use a generic resume. Customize your application for each role. The interview usually involves standard questions. I was surprised by a medication and telemetry test on my first day of orientation.
- What is your understanding of teamwork?
- Can you describe your strengths and weaknesses?
- How are your medication administration skills?
