Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Valley Bank.
Sales Associate
I had a phone interview with the hiring manager, and then a face to face interview with the branch manager. They gave me an offer the next day. The phone interview was pretty easy. The recruiter asked about my availability for the face to face interview.
- Can you define customer service?
- Describe a situation where you dealt with a challenging customer.
Sales Associate
I got an interview a month after I applied. I spoke with the district manager, and she liked my answers. Then, I met the HR Rep. Based on my background, she offered me a different job that she thought I'd be a better fit for, since I originally applied to be a teller. I was offered the job right then, with more money than the original position advertised.

Sales Associate
They'll ask about your past work experiences to make sure you're being honest on your application. You'll need to talk about your skills and qualifications. Also, be ready to explain why you want to work for Valley. Be aware that a background check and credit check are part of the process. It's a good idea to check your own credit beforehand for any mistakes. Having good credit is essential. Make sure you meet FDIC requirements, as they only insure banks that hire people who meet these standards.
