I did a coding test with two parts, and each part had 2 questions. Then I had a phone interview, but it was super short because they only wanted interns who were graduating next year.

Behavioral Technical Coding

Found Valkyrie through a recruiter. They say the interview is a 3 step process. Phone Interview, Tech Assesment, In-Person interview. The phone interview was with the owner of the company I believe. His questions are mainly experience questions: How long have you been coding? Why do you like coding? What do you do now? What is your strongest language? etc. Very relaxed phone interview. Then comes the 8 question technical assessment. Ouch. Questions requiring code were to be in C++ and many other questions involved C++ code. I highly recommend brushing up on C++ topics / general programming concepts (even if you think you know it all). I didn't get the in person interview because... You need to score a 6 or higher to move on. Max Score: 8.5 Low Score: 0 My Score: 1 Avg. Score: 2.7

Behavioral Technical Coding

After attending a University Career Fair talk, I got an email to schedule a phone interview. It was a mix of behavioral questions about challenges and handling conflicts with teammates, and technical questions. The technical part was done using an online collaborative editor and involved basic questions about using the STL library. The recruiter mentioned there's only one dev person on the team, implying a need for a competitive and smart candidate, though I felt the questions didn't really filter effectively.

Confirmed questions4 questions
  • Can you describe a challenging situation you encountered?
  • Could you share an experience dealing with a conflict with a teammate?
  • Regarding inheritance, what are nested classes?
