I applied online, and then had an HR screening, followed by a technical interview, and finally a management interview. It was for a backend role, and they asked general software engineering questions. The interviewers were good, but I didn't hear back for months and the portal never updated.

You start by submitting your application online. Then, we'll review your resume to see if you're a good fit. If you pass that, you'll likely do some online assessments which could include a technical test for problem-solving and your tech knowledge, plus an English test. After that, if you do well, we'll have technical interviews, maybe more than one. The first one is about your core skills like C programming, communication protocols, and testing. The second might go into embedded systems, RTOS, or other specific stuff. Then there's a managerial interview to check your soft skills, how you solve problems, and if you fit our culture, asking about your past experiences, teamwork, and how you handle work. Finally, an HR interview to talk about if you're a good match overall, what you expect, and any practical details.

So I went to Valeo's office in Egypt, kinda nervous but also really excited. After checking in, I waited with some other folks who were also there for the interview. The HR person came and told us what to expect: first a technical test, then interviews. The test had programming stuff (C++, data structures) and some automotive knowledge like CAN protocol. After that, I had a technical interview with some senior engineers. They asked about my past projects, how I solve problems, and what I know about embedded systems. Lastly, I chatted with HR about why I want to work there and my future plans. It was a pretty detailed and tough process, checking both my tech skills and if I'd fit in.

Confirmed questions7 questions
  • Can you explain what memory leaks are in C++?
  • Could you elaborate on the CAN protocol?
  • Could you tell me more about your projects?
