Recruiter
I had three calls. The first was with my recruiter at Vaco, where we discussed what I was looking for and they showed me some potential jobs, though there was only one company they seemed to have. After that, they sent me an email with job details. Then I had a call with the client company I would have been working for. Right after that call, I had one more call with my recruiter. The recruiter expected me to start the job even though I didn't have an offer letter or a confirmed start date. When I emailed to ask for more info, my recruiter told me to call their manager. The manager basically blamed me and said it would be bad if I backed out now, even though I never got an offer letter or signed anything. I mentioned I didn't have a confirmed start date, and the manager asked if I was out of the country, which was weird because I had internet and phone access the whole time and had been in contact with my recruiter. The communication between Vaco and their client was terrible, and the experience got really bad at the end.

Senior Recruiter
I had a face-to-face with the manager, then a phone call with a recruiter on the team, followed by another call with a different manager. The final step was a face-to-face with the managing directors, and they offered me the position onsite after that last interview.
- What are your motivations for seeking a new company?
- Could you describe your approach to the recruiting process?
Recruiter
The first interview was with a recruiter and it went really well, she seemed very optimistic. We talked about my salary expectations, and she said they were in line with what they're looking for. I then moved on to the next step, which was a virtual interview with a second recruiter. This interview also went well until the salary discussion. When she mentioned the salary, it was surprisingly low for a high-volume recruiter role, and not at all what the first recruiter had discussed. She then checked the first recruiter’s notes and said my expectation was too high. I was quite annoyed because it was clear there was no internal communication about salary, and if I had known the salary was going to be this low from the start, I wouldn't have spent my time on a second interview.
- What kind of requirements have you recruited for in the past?
