Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Vaco.
Accountant
I think it went well. They didn't ask too many questions, which was a bit unexpected since I thought it was for a specific position. However, I was later informed that they would look for a suitable role for me.
- Can you describe your previous work history?
Accounting Manager
A recruiter reached out to me about a role matching my profile, which I thought was odd since I didn't apply. I did agree to a quick 15-minute phone interview with basic questions. Then, they wanted to meet in person at a coffee shop for a lengthy discussion (over three hours). After that, the recruiter asked me to update my resume with more content, which I did and sent back. I followed up the next week for an update, but she hadn't heard back and said she would let me know. A week later, seeing the job reposted, I asked for an update on the client's feedback, but got absolutely no response. So, I put in hours on a job I never applied for, and they couldn't even be bothered to give me any feedback.
- Can you describe your experience?
- Which software do you know?
- What were your duties?
Accountant
I met with the controller at their office. The interview was very informative, and we had an in-depth discussion about the position and responsibilities. They explained why the position was available (the previous Accountant had found a new position closer to home). I started 2 days later and had 5 days of training with the Accountant I was to replace. The transition of the desk responsibilities was smooth; there was a great deal of work to do, however, the training was very helpful.
- Do you have Yardi and MRI Version X experience?
