Intern
Online group interview with HR, including a short personal presentation in a predefined format and a proposal for innovation for the company. The predefined questions are simple but require prior preparation about the company.
- Why do you want to work at the company?

The process had two parts: a group dynamic on one day and interviews with leaders from different sectors on another. It took a long time on both days, which I think is bad; HR should be more direct and quick. There was a Rorschach test, a SWOT analysis, and we had to present our results to the others. Overall it was a good experience, but HR didn't get back to those not selected, which is a big mistake. HR needs to be more considerate of people wanting feedback on their applications, as it can really help them in future interviews. Also, the salary and the number of openings weren't clear to the candidates.
- What made you choose Usiminas?
- Which area do you want to pursue and why?
- Do you have trouble working in an industrial setting?
Intern
This interview process with Usiminas was quite disappointing. It started with a group dynamic that felt poorly organized. They didn't mention the internship benefits in the job description, which I found misleading given the low R$1350/month salary for 30 hours/week. The process involved everyone introducing themselves with information already on their resumes, wasting about an hour. They then congratulated us for being selected, implying participation in such a dynamic in 2024 was an achievement. The low benefits became clearer: they only want students from top universities (Federal and PUC), but the 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM work schedule, which is inflexible, conflicts with university classes. The salary is among the lowest, and the meal voucher (VR) is with Sodexo, accepted in very few places, with no meal allowance (VA). Despite wanting to leave, I stayed for the group dynamic, where one evaluator was supposed to assess three groups of six people each within 40 minutes, which seems insufficient for proper evaluation. If you get past this stage and choose not to withdraw, the next step is a one-day case study to solve and present to the entire HR department and managers. While I did get a match, it was a terrible process for a terrible opening, worse than university clubs or junior enterprises. I haven't received a response yet.
