First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Usiminas.
Intern
Online group interview with HR, including a short personal presentation in a predefined format and a proposal for innovation for the company. The predefined questions are simple but require prior preparation about the company.
- Why do you want to work at the company?
Trainee
The interview experience began with a welcoming and professional team. We started with a brief introduction where I shared my experience and motivation for the position. The conversation flowed naturally, covering my technical skills and interpersonal competencies. I highlighted my past achievements and how they align with the company's needs. Towards the end, I had the chance to ask questions about the organizational culture and expectations for the role. I left the interview feeling confident and eager for the next steps in the selection process.
- Do you know the company's history?
Engineering Intern
The internship process was terrible. It was long and dragged on. The interview felt like an interrogation, as they seemed more interested in what I knew about the company and how I could talk about it, rather than getting to know me. They also asked me to complete a super complex project for an engineering internship, which, let's be honest, isn't the most attractive one in the market. On top of that, they assigned me to a position outside the location I requested during my application. Very disorganized.
- Which of Usiminas' values did I identify with?
- Can you give an example of when I chose to do something more time-consuming but more effective over something simpler and quicker?
- Tell me about a project you were proud of.
Production Assistant
The process was standard, but it left many people with doubts, and their selection filtering method is very bizarre. It's psychologically useless and the worst physical experience I've had! After a normal interview, everyone is in a room and they tell some people to leave and others to stay. Up to that point, okay, but it's already 1:30 PM, and we've been there since 9 AM. They didn't even offer a cookie or water. After that, we waited another 50 minutes, until around 2:20 PM. Then they let everyone go, but said they would send news. They called me two days later asking for some things that weren't in my registration. I was so happy thinking I was in, the employee implying I had passed. Then Christmas, New Year, January, February, and nothing. Then I received a message from GUPY thanking me and saying I didn't pass. I believe it was the worst interview I've ever had!
